“Very bad”: Akali MP Harsimrat Badal slams Haryana govt decision to grant bail to Ram Rahim – World News Network

Amritsar (Punjab) [India], January 28 (ANI): Former Union Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal has criticized the Haryana government’s decision to grant bail to Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, calling it “very bad.”
She was responding to reporters’ questions about Ram Rahim’s bail by the Haryana government after paying her respects at Sri Harmandir Sahib (the Golden Temple). She stated, “It is very bad. People understand everything.”
Notably, Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has been released by the Haryana government on a 30-day parole on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, amid controversy over Ram Rahim’s bail, his advocate Jitendra Khurana clarified that the Dera Sacha Sauda chief’s parole is his legal right and should not be linked to politics.
“The 30-day parole has been granted to him today as per the law. Every prisoner has the legal right to apply for parole. This should not be connected to any political events or elections. While applying for parole, a prisoner can specify where they wish to go. This time, he applied to visit the Dera Sacha Sauda ashram, and he was granted permission accordingly. After being released on parole, he reached the ashram in Sirsa in the morning hours,” Khurana told ANI.
Khurana further clarified, “As per law, parole can be granted for up to 70 days, and furlough for 21 days in a year. Ram Rahim’s parole is entirely within the legal framework.”
Ram Rahim is currently serving a 20-year sentence in Sunaria jail in Rohtak, Haryana, for raping two of his disciples. Ram Rahim’s release coincides with the upcoming assembly elections in Delhi, which are scheduled to be held on February 5.
As the election dates approach, the political atmosphere in the national capital has intensified, with Congress, BJP, and AAP vying against each other over various issues. Recently, AAP accused the central government of plotting a “huge conspiracy” against the people of Delhi in an effort to win the upcoming assembly elections through “unfair means.” The party also claimed that officials were being instructed to remove the names of Aam Aadmi Party voters from the voter list.
Meanwhile, the BJP has accused the ruling Aam Aadmi Party government of allegedly settling Bangladeshi and Rohingya people in the national capital and providing them with Aadhaar and voter cards to secure votes from them.
The Congress, which was in power for 15 consecutive years in Delhi, has suffered setbacks in the last two assembly elections and has failed to win any seat. In contrast, the AAP dominated the 2020 assembly elections by winning 62 out of 70 seats while the BJP got only eight seats. (ANI)
