Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India], February 15 (ANI): Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday termed his visit to the ongoing MahaKumbh in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj an emotional moment for him.
Speaking to ANI, he stated that the largest religious congregation is a “perfect” example of India’s collective spirit.
“It’s truly an emotional moment. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to visit MahaKumbh. This is the perfect example of the collective spirit of India… More than 50 crore people from India and abroad have visited the MahaKumbh and demonstrated India’s growing power,” the Union Minister said.
Recalling to British rock band Coldplay’s visit to MahaKumbh, he said, “I was in Belgium when I got the information that Chris Martin of Coldplay wanted to visit the MahaKumbh. I called up the CM and made arrangements for his visit. He was so thrilled after experiencing this unique event. This will give a message of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ to the world and the country…”
Stressing the significance of the MahaKumbh, he further said that the event will once again encourage the youth of the country to connect with Hindu traditions.
Meanwhile, a large number of devotees gathered at the ongoing Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Saturday to take a holy dip at the sacred Triveni Sangam.
According to the Uttar Pradesh government, more than 3.324 million devotees took a dip in the Triveni Sangam (the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati) till 9 am today.
The state’s information department stated that as of today, nearly 501.1 million people have taken holy dips. The Uttar Pradesh administration further noted that the Mahakumbh has become the first event in the world to have more than 500 million direct participants.
This number exceeds the population of several major countries, including the United States, Russia, Indonesia, Brazil, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, making the Mahakumbh the largest spiritual gathering in the world.
In light of the increasing number of devotees at the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj, new traffic and bathing guidelines have been issued, as per a government release.
As per the instructions, devotees coming from the Parade Mela area towards the Sangam will be able to take a bath at the Sangam and other ghats built towards the Parade area. Those arriving from the Jhunsi fair area can take a dip at the bathing ghats in Jhunsi. Similarly, devotees coming from the Arali side will be able to bathe at the ghats built in the Arali area.
