“Modi, Modi chants no longer heard”: Bihar Congress President Akhilesh Prasad Singh – World News Network

New Delhi [India], April 22 (ANI): Bihar Congress President Akhilesh Prasad Singh said that chants of Prime Minister Narendra Modi are no longer heard, and the writing on the wall should be understood after the first phase of elections witnessed a relatively low voting percentage.
Speaking with ANI, he said, “The voters of the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) are way ahead of them (BJP). They understand everything. The recent four elections.. I have told you before as well…that thing happened. The vote share has gone down below 50 per cent. The chants of Modi, Modi are no longer heard. So we must understand the writing on the wall.”
The first phase of voting for 102 parliamentary constituencies spread over 21 states and Union Territories was held on Friday with a voter turnout of nearly 64 per cent. The estimated voter turnout was recorded at 63.89 per cent till 9:00 pm in the first phase of polling.
Bihar recorded the lowest voter turnout at 47.74 per cent, while Tripura saw the highest turnout at 80.06 per cent in the first phase. Voters in as many as 21 states and 102 constituencies participated in the first round of polling.
In the first phase of LS polls, voting took place in the following states – Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal.
Polling was also held in the following Union Territories today – Andaman and Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Jammu and Kashmir and Puducherry.
A Central Election Committee meeting of the Congress party was held at the party headquarters in New Delhi.
Speaking about the meeting, Singh said, “Everything should be clear within 2-3 days…when the discussion has already happened in the Central Election Committee meeting of the Congress. Now the decision will come.”
On a query related to CEC, he said, “We are not allowed to destroy the confidentiality.”
The meeting, chaired by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and party leader Sonia Gandhi was held to finalise candidates for the remaining Lok Sabha seats in Punjab and other states.
Senior Congress leaders of Punjab were present in this meeting.
The Lok Sabha Elections 2024 are being held in seven phases starting on April 19. The counting of votes is on June 4. (ANI)
