New Delhi [India], September 13 (ANI): Heavy rains swept through several parts of Delhi-NCR on Friday, leading to severe waterlogging and significant traffic disruptions.
Intermittent downpours continued throughout the day, causing widespread flooding and hampering vehicular movement across the region.

The Dwarka-Palam flyover experienced significant waterlogging, affecting vehicular movement due to continuous heavy rainfall since overnight.
Traffic congestion was reported at ITO and Saket, and Mehrauli-Badarpur Road saw prolonged delays as commuters navigated flooded roads.
Traffic came to a standstill at Munirka due to waterlogging in the evening, and Minto Road also experienced slow-moving traffic.
In Gurugram, traffic slowed in several areas, with waterlogging near Narsinghpur Chowk on the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway causing a jam extending about 6 kilometres.
Bahadurgarh and Jhajjar also witnessed severe waterlogging due to the heavy rains.

In Noida, traffic slowed at the Chilla Border, with heavy rainfall and waterlogging causing jams that extended for several kilometres. Vehicles moved slowly under the supervision of traffic police.

In Lakhimpur, Uttar Pradesh, the District Basic Education Officer declared a holiday on September 14 for schools from classes 1 to 8 due to heavy rain alerts. Schools in Palia and Dhaurahra will also be closed on Saturday due to a flood-like situation.
In Aligarh, the district administration declared a holiday for schools on Saturday following two days of continuous heavy rain.
In Pilibhit, on the orders of DM Sanjay Kumar Singh, a holiday has been declared on September 14 in schools/government/non-government aided schools recognised by all boards from classes 1 to 8 in the district due to heavy rains.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an ‘Orange’ alert for Delhi and NCR, predicting heavy rainfall.
The IMD’s Doppler Radar animation showed convective clouds responsible for moderate to intense rainfall in most parts of Delhi-NCR.
“Animation picture of Doppler Radar at New Delhi from 1330-1630 IST September 13 showing convective clouds responsible for moderate to intense rainfall in most parts of Delhi-NCR,” the IMD said in a post on X.
A depression that formed over the Bay of Bengal and is now in central Uttar Pradesh is one of the factors for the downpours that Delhi and other places in North India are receiving.
“Depression over central Uttar Pradesh lay centred at 0530IST of 13Sept over northwest Uttar Pradesh & nbd. about 20km south-southwest of Bareilly(UP), 70km west-northwest of Shahjahanpur(UP). Likely to continue moving nearly north-northwestwards & weaken gradually,” IMD said.
The IMD forecasted heavy to very heavy rain with extremely heavy rain at isolated places over Uttarakhand and west Uttar Pradesh, heavy rain at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh and Delhi, and heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places over Haryana, Chandigarh, east Uttar Pradesh, and east Rajasthan.
