Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], December 15 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Aparajita Sarangi praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech in Parliament, describing it as “enlightening.”
“PM Modi addressed all members of Parliament in the Lok Sabha for over 1.5 hours. He outlined 11 action points that we need to focus on in the coming days. It was a very enlightening speech, serving as guidance for all of us,” she said.
The BJP MP emphasised that the Prime Minister’s directions were not limited to members of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
“As you know, we discussed the Constitution over two days. During these debates, many MPs shared their views on the Indian Constitution, adopted by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949. Since then, the Indian Constitution has been a lighthouse for us. The Prime Minister provided direction and a path for everyone to follow, not just the members of the NDA,” she added.
“The Prime Minister is the Prime Minister of the entire country. Whatever he said, the directions he gave were meant for all members of Parliament, regardless of their political affiliations. The Prime Minister emphasised that our sole goal should be to uphold the provisions of the Constitution and work towards making India one of the fastest-growing economies,” Sarangi said.
On Saturday, PM Modi outlined 11 pledges for India’s bright future during a discussion in the Lok Sabha on 75 years of the Constitution. He urged both the government and citizens to fulfil their duties and called for politics to be free from “parivarvad” (dynastic politics).
Towards the conclusion of his speech, the Prime Minister presented these pledges, focusing on inclusive development and zero tolerance for corruption. He expressed hope that the 75th year of the Constitution’s adoption would strengthen people’s commitment to their duties.
“For India’s future, inspired by the spirit of the Constitution, I present 11 pledges from the hallowed precincts of Parliament. Whether citizen or government, everyone must perform their duties. Development should reach every area and section of society–this is ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’,” PM Modi said.
“There should be zero tolerance for corruption, and the corrupt should find no social acceptance. People should take pride in following the country’s laws, rules, and traditions,” he added.
Highlighting the fifth pledge, PM Modi called for freedom from the mentality of slavery and urged citizens to take pride in India’s heritage.
“The country must be free from dynastic politics. The Constitution should be respected and not used as a tool for political self-interest,” he said.
He also stressed that the benefits of reservation should remain with those entitled to them and opposed attempts to introduce reservation based on religion.
PM Modi further emphasised the need for India to lead the world in women-led development. “Development of the country through the development of the states should be our development mantra,” he said.
Concluding with the 11th pledge, the Prime Minister underlined that the goal of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ should take precedence over everything else.
In his address, PM Modi declared that the dream of building a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) is shared by all 140 crore citizens.
“Let us move forward with the spirit of ‘We, the people…’–the foundation of our Constitution. The dream of a Viksit Bharat is the dream of all 140 crore citizens. When a nation moves forward with determination, results are guaranteed. I have immense faith in my fellow citizens, their capabilities, the youth, and the Nari Shakti of Bharat. Let us resolve that by the time India celebrates 100 years of independence in 2047, she will be celebrated as a ‘Developed India’,” he said.
The two-day discussion in the Lok Sabha began on Friday. (ANI)
