New Delhi [India], August 14 (ANI): The Rouse Avenue Court on Wednesday sent a Delhi Police Sub Inspector to judicial custody who was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation for demanding and accepting bribe from complainant.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday apprehended Sub-Inspector, Police Station- Kalkaji, Delhi Police, while demanding and accepting a bribe from the complainant.
A case was registered by CBI on August 13 against said sub-inspector on the basis of a complaint.
It was alleged in the complaint that accused Sub Inspector demanded bribe of Rs, 20,000/- for settling a complaint of harassment lodged against the complainant by a lady. Later, the accused agreed to reduce the demanded bribe amount to Rs. 15,000/-.
“CBI laid a trap and accused was caught red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe from the complainant and was apprehended,” said CBI.
Searches were carried out at the residence and office of the accused and incriminating evidence has been recovered.
Advocate Rahul Aggarwal, representing the complainant, reported that a sub-inspector had demanded a bribe from the client under the pretext of resolving a dispute. The sub-inspector also threatened to impose multiple charges if the bribe was not paid. Following this, a complaint was filed with the CBI, which subsequently arrested the sub-inspector red-handed based on the complaint. (ANI)
