Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 9 (ANI): Migratory Siberian birds flocked to the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj on Wednesday morning, adding to the beauty of the ghats and attracting tourists, at the confluence, which is a popular destination for visitors from around the world.

The confluence of the Saraswati, Ganges, and Yamuna rivers is at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj. “Triveni Sangam” is a Sanskrit term, where “Tri” means three, “Veni” means confluence, and “Sangam” means union.
The Triveni Sangam is known for its spiritual importance and is a significant site for Hindu pilgrimages.

Speaking to ANI, Krishna Mishra, a tourist said, “I have come here from Madhya Pradesh to watch these birds that migrate from Siberia in the winter months. These are peace-loving birds that beautify the ghats. Tourists that arrive here feed them here as well.”

Lakhs of pilgrims come to the Sangam to take a dip in the holy water every day. The entire confluence area is filled with Siberian bird neo-pilgrim tourists throughout the day.
The flock of migratory birds also became a centre of attraction for the Urban Development Minister of the Uttar Pradesh Government during his visit to the Triveni Sangam earlier.

Every year thousands of Siberian birds arrive at Sangam and nearby wetlands in UP’s Prayagraj in November but this time they are back early. These birds increase the beauty of the ghats and tourism and become the centre of tourist attraction
Even though winters have still not set in the country, thousands of Siberian birds have flocked to Sangam and nearby wetlands in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj.

The arrival of these seasonal visitors at different water bodies signals the beginning of winter. Various bird species migrate from Siberia to India’s wetlands during the colder months when temperatures drop in their native regions.
They usually reach here in November and December when the cold increases. This year they are back early in October.
The wetlands are viewed as breeding grounds for these birds where receive a diverse supply of food. (ANI)
