New Delhi [India], August 10 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief and Union Minister JP Nadda is set to visit the flood-affected regions of Himachal Pradesh tomorrow.
His visit will focus on assessing the damage in Samej, a disaster-stricken area in Rampur, and interacting with the local residents impacted by the recent severe weather events.
Nadda’s visit comes amid ongoing relief and rescue operations in the state. Heavy rainfall and a series of cloudbursts have wreaked havoc across Himachal Pradesh, resulting in significant loss of life and property. The state’s disaster management efforts are currently addressing the aftermath of these incidents, with a particular emphasis on the areas most affected.
Earlier this month, BJP MP from Mandi, Kangana Ranaut, visited the cloudburst affected area in Himachal Pradesh’s Rampur.
“It’s a very saddening thing for us. The lives of people living in the mountains are tough. Every year, such tragedies come and damage the lives and property of the people of Himachal Pradesh. The PM and the Union HM have taken reports for all the things and have given assurance that more help through relief funds will be provided. I’ll also meet different ministers to seek as much help as I can get. After my work is completed here, I’ll visit Himachal to meet people in their tough times,” Kangana Ranaut said.
State Minister Jagat Singh Negi provided an update on the flood situation, stating, “The situation is under control as the incidents of cloudbursts have decreased. However, it rained heavily last night. The previous cloudbursts have resulted in numerous casualties, and the relief and rescue work is actively ongoing.”
Negi further mentioned that the number of missing persons has risen to over 52, with fears that they may have died given the duration since their disappearance.

The recent heavy rainfall and flood situation in Himachal Pradesh has led to a devastating loss of Rs 900 crore to the Irrigation and Public Health (IPH), Public Works Department (PWD), and the state’s road infrastructure, a government release said on Friday.

The state government has put all districts on high alert for rain and expected natural disasters till September. As rescue and search operations continue, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has expressed concern over the lack of immediate assistance from the Union government, though assurances of future help have been given.
