‘Opposition misleading people on Agniveer scheme’: CM Yogi – World News Network

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 26 (ANI): Underscoring the importance of national security, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath criticised the opposition on Friday for allegedly misleading the public regarding the Agniveer scheme.
His remarks coincided with the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, celebrated every year on July 26 to commemorate India’s victory over Pakistan.
Speaking to ANI, CM Yogi stated, “Reforms undertaken periodically to establish a new paradigm of progress and prosperity are essential for any country and society. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, numerous steps have been taken over the past 10 years, and reforms have been implemented in every sector to elevate our economy and establish India as the fifth-largest global economy.”
Commenting on the reforms within the Indian Armed Forces, CM Yogi said, “We need to give national security equal importance. The armed forces have also advanced with these reforms. Today, Indian armed forces are equipped with ultra-modern fighter aircraft. Defence manufacturing corridors are being developed in Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.”
Amid the ongoing controversy over the Agniveer scheme, CM Yogi added, “The Agniveer scheme has been introduced to ensure that our armed forces can progress with these reforms. There is enthusiasm among the youth. Ten lakh Agniveers are moving forward to serve under the Agnipath scheme.”
He also criticised certain political parties for obstructing reforms and progress at the expense of the country.
“It’s unfortunate that some political parties, for whom politics is more important than the country, want to play politics at the country’s expense. Their job is to obstruct everything related to reform, progress, and prosperity. They do this continuously. The opposition tried to mislead people on this matter. I believe we should prioritise national security and continue with these armed forces reforms,” CM Yogi concluded.

In a post on X, CM Yogi said, “When Agniveers return after their service, Uttar Pradesh government will provide these youth the facility of adjustment in Police Service, PAC on priority basis. A certain reservation facility will be provided for them in Uttar Pradesh Police…”. (ANI)
